The History: Conflict Resolution by Youth (CRY) Uganda Ltd. was founded in 1999 in Uganda by young peace makers as a response to as well as preventive action for violence in Ugandan schools and communities.
Founder members: Daisey Kamuli Muculezi, Marion Akiteng (Fredskorpset Norway Fellow, Philippines, 2006-7), and Innocent K. Muculezi.
Promoters of CRY Uganda: In addition to the founder members CRY they include great personalities in Uganda and UK, namely: Rev. Ssentongo Grace (Peace Consultant and Trainer), Mrs. Kashunju S. Angelica (independent Peace Consultant and Trainer), Mr. Enoc K. Muhindi and Mr. John Lampen (Hope Project-UK).
CRY Uganda is a membership organization. She is an indigenous, youth founded, youth-run and youth focused non governmental organization that takes child or youth participation and development seriously.
The Legal Status: CRY was registered on Sept.21st 2001 under the laws of the republic of Uganda (see Reg.certificate No.S.5914/3555) as a Non-governmental, not-for-profit, organization in the Republic of Uganda founded by young people for young people.
In 2007, CRY Uganda was incorporated into a company limited by guarantee in Uganda. CRY is a membership organization. The organizational slogan is “Youth are a resource”. CRY Uganda arose out of the desire to change the prevalent culture of violence to that of non-violence in addressing issues that face young people today. These issues are addressed through dialogue, peace theater, entrepreneurship, professional youth exchange, modern debate, peace camps, Training & Education, media outreaches, ICTs, Sports, networking, advocacy, institutional development, monitoring and evaluation; community outreaches.
